For over 20 years we’ve been working to record, track and verify Bighorns across the US and Canada and now Finland. We’ve seen the known surviving trucks go from numbers in the mid 70’s to almost double in this time frame. Just when you think no more unknown trucks will pop up, they do and then you hear some rumors about some more.
With the new version of the site, it will take some time to setup the registry records again, but for now, here are some quick facts.
Based on the production numbers by year:
- 70% of the ’73 Bighorn’s still exist with 90% of the serial numbers known
- 40% of the ’74 Bighorn’s still exist with 53% of the serial numbers known (this is based on 12 serial numbers we believe we be from the Fina trucks but not confirmed)
- 46% of the ’75 Bighorn’s still exist with 51% of the serial numbers known
This does not include at least 15 additional trucks known of that we currently don’t have serial #’s on!
Based on current data, solidly around 130 Bighorn’s out of the 261 are still surviving. Not bad for a truck that ceased production over 45 years ago.
